About this Project

Engine No.1 was donated to the University in 1960.  In 1967 they constructed a building to protect it. In 2002 funds became available to refurbish Engine No.1.  It was then moved from the University to the Southwestern Industrial  yard to begin remodeling. After completing the Refurbishing of Engine No. 1 it is set in a new home in Downtown El Paso.
